VUHL 05 Ford EcoBoost powered Supercar unveiled

n/a

The new VUHL 05 has been held in extreme secrecy but has been officially unveiled for the world to see. It was revealed in London two days ago for a select audience including SIr Stirling Moss at London?s Royal Automobile Club. VUHL
(pronounced ?vool?) stands for Vehicles of Ultra High-performance and Lightweight). The two-seat mid-engine supercar is the brainchild of brothers Iker and Guillermo Echeverria, whose Mexican/American design company built the breath-taking 05.

The road-legal car recently landed in the UK from Mexico last week where the final assembly took place in Mexico City. The two brothers who designed the supercar have a passion for performance cars that stem from GT and formula racing cars successfully built and campaigned over a 30-year period by their father, Guillermo Echeverria senior.

Engineered for exhilarating performance

The VUHL 05 supercar embodies the ultimate in automotive technology from around the world and has the backing of a number of blue-chip companies that includes Ford, Multimatic, Michelin and the Mexican Government. The road-legal sports car has been precision engineered for the track and endowed with exhilarating performance for both the road and the circuit.

The VUHL 05 is ultra-lightweight and weighs in at just 695kg. The chassis is made exclusively of aluminum and the body consists of RTM reinforced plastic and carbon fiber is an option. The suspension consists of unequal length double wishbones front and rear. It will ride on OZ alloy wheels wrapped with 205/45 x 17 front; 235/45 x 18 rear Michelin performance tires.

The VUHL 05 will be powered by a 2.0-liter Ford EcoBoost turbocharged engine which pumps out 285 horsepower and close to 310 lb ft of torque. The lightweight supercar will have a power to weight ratio of 400 bhp per ton. Just how fast will this make the new two-seat sports car? This will translate to a 0-100 k/ph sprint time of just 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 152 mph.

The bodies of the new mid-engined supercar are being fabricated in Canada, with chassis production and final assembly conducted by the advanced manufacturing concern, Adman Leku in Mexico City.

Testing is still underway

The 05?s handling has been fine-tuned in the UK, while further testing and development is scheduled to take place with assistance from Michelin later this year, both here in the U.S. and Europe. And there is good news for those of us in the U.S. Initial sales will be available in North America and the UK with expansion to other European countries, China and the Middle-East.

How much will the new VUHL 05 cost? Orders are being taken now for delivery beginning in the spring of 2014. The base price will start from 55,000 British Pounds ($81,994 USD) with a wide range of performance options available to allow the 05 to be upgraded to personal taste. India, Mozambique trade doubles

Maputo, July 6 (IANS) Trade between Mozambique and India has doubled from $6.31 million in 2010 to $1.28 billion in 2012, a government minister said Friday.

Deputy Mineral Resources Minister Abdul Razak said this was due to good economic relations between the two countries and boosted by Mozambican President Armando Guebuza?s visit to India two years ago, reports Xinhua.

The figure was revealed at an India-Mozambique business forum in Maputo.

Razak said Indian businessmen had a lot of opportunities to grab in Mozambique in the fields of mineral resources, transport, energy, health and technology among others.

?Investment climate in our country is excellent?, he said. ?Mozambique is open to direct foreign investment.?

Razak said Mozambique had a huge potential such as natural gas with reserves attaining around 160 trillion cubic feet and coal deposite of about 20 billion tonnes.

Mozambique exports power to energy-thirsty neighbours.

(AP) ? The price of oil hovered near $101 a barrel Friday as markets awaited a report on U.S. hiring.

Benchmark crude for August delivery was down 24 cents at $101 a barrel at midday Bangkok time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Nymex floor trading was closed Thursday for the Independence Day holiday.

On Wednesday, the contract gained $1.64 to $101.24, its highest close since early May last year, propelled by political unrest in Egypt and a sharp drop in U.S. oil supplies that could signal stronger demand.

The U.S. jobs report could be crucial to whether oil continues to rise or cedes recent gains as it will provide insight into the strength of the recovery in the world's No. 1 economy and a major crude consumer. A survey of analysts by FactSet forecasts that 178,000 new jobs were created in June.

Brent crude, which is used to set prices for oils used by many U.S. refineries, was down 6 cents to $105.48 on the ICE exchange in London.

In other energy futures trading on Nymex:

? Wholesale gasoline was up 0.2 cent to $2.841 per gallon.

? Natural gas fell 1.4 cents to $3.676 per 1,000 cubic feet.

? Heating oil was almost unchanged at $2.951 a gallon.

(AP) ? A mother and her daughter died of injuries suffered in a central Pennsylvania house fire, bringing the toll in the Fourth of July blaze to six, authorities said Friday.

Crystal Kuhns died at 7:30 a.m. Friday and her daughter Mickey died at 6 p.m. Thursday, a spokesman for Crozer Chester Medical Center said. Two-year-old Kordell Kuhns remained in critical condition at the hospital outside Philadelphia, spokesman Grant Gegwich said.

The fire started in the kitchen of a three-story Lancaster duplex at about 3 a.m. Thursday after frozen potatoes were left in the oven, fire officials said. Authorities said two men and two other children also died.

Fourteen members of several families lived in the home, which did not have smoke detectors, Fire Chief Timothy Gregg said.

One victim, 65-year-old Jimmie Moore, was described by neighbors and relatives as a generous man and Vietnam War veteran who let another family move in after they lost their own housing.

The others victims were David Kuhns, 51; and his two sons, Skylar, 8, and Shawn, 6, The (Lancaster) Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era reported.

Another person was admitted in serious condition, a nursing supervisor at Lancaster General Hospital said. Several others were treated and released.

Lancaster County coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni said autopsies on the first four victims were scheduled for Friday.

Flixster for BlackBerry 10 adds UltraViolet movie streaming

Flixster for BlackBerry 10 adds UltraViolet movie streaming

BlackBerry 10 users have had Flixster's app as a movie guide since January, but they haven't had the chance to watch their discoveries on the BlackBerry itself. Thankfully, Flixster has provided that missing piece of the puzzle today by adding UltraViolet support (not pictured here). As with Android and iOS, anyone with a BB10 device can now stream videos saved in their UV locker. The upgrade brings regular Flixster accounts, too -- members can mark the movies they want to see and review them afterward. Between these two major additions, the new Flixster app is easily worth an update at the source link.

Try getting a weapon on plane and you'll end up on...Instagram?

This Instagram image was taken by the TSA. No, really. It shows a weapon they confiscated from someone's carry on luggage at Austin Bergstrom airport. The TSA now has their own Instagram account and has taken to posting images of some of the things they're confiscating at airports across the U.S. It's both shocking, and re-assuring at the same time; shocking items such as loaded guns were found at all, but re-assuring that the TSA is visibly doing a job to protect our safety, even if they are telling us about it themselves.

The TSA is no stranger to using the power of the Internet to talk about their successes, but with the enormous, global reach of Instagram, this latest method really can reach everyone. Further still, they're pretty good Instagram photos as well; composed, 'properly' filtered and framed!

It could be seen as an unusual tactic, but as todays world ever changes towards mobile, and apps like Instagram are great examples of this, there's no reason why an enforcement agency like the TSA shouldn't use mobile to get their point across. What do you guys think of this? Any other government agencies you'd like to see take to Instagram?
