The U.S. defender's teammates have been bombarding her with questions about what to do and what to see in Frankfurt, site of Sunday's World Cup final and Krieger's home for much of the last four years.

"Since we drove into Frankfurt, it's been nothing but questions of where to go and what to see, where to eat, what's the best thing to see in Frankfurt," she said Friday. "I know my favorite places and what I like to do. I just tell them to go into the city and enjoy it. We don't have so much time here so whatever you can see, do it. It's a nice place."

Despite not knowing anyone in Germany or a word of the language, Krieger moved here after graduating from Penn State in the summer of 2007. The Women's Professional Soccer league was still two years from kicking off, and Krieger knew she needed to play ? at a high level ? to catch the attention of the U.S. coaching staff.

After a weeklong tryout, Krieger signed with FFC Frankfurt. The Bundesliga powerhouse had 11 members of Germany's World Cup champion team at the time, including captain Birgit Prinz, who shares the tournament record for scoring with Marta; and Steffi Jones, now president of the organizing committee for this year's event.

Krieger started her first game with Frankfurt and helped the club to a rare "treble" that first year ? the Bundesliga title, German Cup and European women's championship. This season, Krieger and Frankfurt won the German Cup again.

Pia Sundhage took over as coach shortly after Krieger left for Germany, and Krieger had some fears that being so far away might keep her out of the mix for the U.S. team. But Sundhage, a Swede, knows all about the German league and how good its players are, and was impressed that the young American was more than holding her own.

Sundhage called Krieger up for a May 22, 2010, game ? against Germany, no less ? and she's been a staple on the U.S. team ever since. She has played every minute of every World Cup game, and she buried the penalty kick that clinched the epic victory over Brazil in the quarterfinals.

The Americans then beat France to earn a spot in the final ? and Krieger a trip "home."

"I'm very happy to be back," said Krieger, who's now fluent in German and has been popular with the German media. "It's a dream come true that I can actually play in the place where I've lived ... and end the tournament in such an amazing place. It's kind of emotional because I thought I could actually be here, but to share this with this team, these players, is just a cherry on top of the ice cream."

Krieger's parents are here for the final, as is her agent and his family. Her brother, who'd returned to the United States after being here for some of the earlier games, is flying back, and she just found out two of her best friends are coming, too.

"Hopefully it'll be a great game and we'll be successful and win," Krieger said. "That'll be a dream come true even more."

Their use as medical treatments has no scientific basis and could be dangerous because patients might not seek proper treatment for their diseases, a health department statement said.

"This is likely to aggravate their overall health and put them at greater risk," it added.

Treatments for asthma are easily available and affordable, while there are antiviral drugs to control the progress of HIV, it added.

Geckos are carnivorous, nocturnal reptiles from the family Gekkonidae that are found in tropical countries. They are known for their sticky footpads that allow them to climb vertical surfaces, including glass.

Wildlife official Mundita Lim said her office has asked law enforcers to look into the possibility that scammers may have infiltrated the trade because of the exorbitant prices being quoted online by buyers demanding geckos weighing at least 400 grams (14 ounces).

She said geckos in the wild grow up to 200 grams (7 ounces). Those fattened in captivity can grow only up to 300 grams (10 ounces).

if you?re not feeling a lender?s love, you?ll soon know exactly why you got jilted.

Starting Thursday, if a lender denies you a credit card, a car loan or other loan product based on your credit score, you?re entitled to a free copy of that score. You?ll also get a list of the reasons why you got rejected. Ditto if you get a less-than-favorable interest rate on a new loan.

Some credit experts call the new disclosure rules a historic change in how consumers are treated by lenders.

It?s all part of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, which Congress enacted last year to give consumers more clarity in their financial life. The legislation also created a new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which officially springs to life on Thursday as well.

The bureau?s mission is to ensure that consumers know exactly what they?re getting with mortgages, credit cards, loans and other financial products. or as the bureau?s fledgling website (consumerfinance.gov) notes: It?s to ensure that ?prices are clear up front, that risks are visible, and that nothing is buried in fine print.?

And part of that clarity is knowing why you got dinged by a lender.

In the past, if you were rejected for a credit card, you might not get any explanation. under the new rules, you?ll now get ? in the mail ? the exact score used by the lender when reviewing your credit application. The letter will also include the reasons why your score was considered risky: too many late payments, balances too high, too many credit card applications, etc.

?For consumers, this is the first time they?ll see their real score used by the lender. It?ll give consumers an exact picture of where they stand in the lender?s eyes ? and they?ll get this in the mail without even asking, ? said John Ulzheimer, president of consumer education for SmartCredit.com. ?It?s a historic change.?

Just as a refresher, the mostly commonly used credit score, known as the FICO, is a three-digit number between 300 and 850. It determines how much ? or how little ? you?ll pay for all kinds of borrowing, from student loans to credit cards to home mortgages.

The higher your score, the better your chances of getting approved for a loan and the lower your interest rate, which can mean huge savings in the long run.

Note: Credit scores are not the same as credit reports, which are the histories of all your bill payments, loan balances and delinquencies. Credit reports are compiled by the three reporting bureaus (Experian, Equifax and TransUnion).

The new rules do not cover mortgage loans, which already require disclosure of credit scores. they also don?t apply to applications for insurance, since those don?t generally rely on credit scores.

Those with good credit won?t get a credit score letter in the mail, but the new rules ?validate? that you?re getting the best possible rate from a lender, said Ulzheimer.

For those who do get rejected or receive a less-than-ideal APR, the lender?s explanatory letter ?empowers consumers to actually go out and improve their score. they know why it isn?t higher,? he said.

Want to pump up your credit score? here are some tips:

Get your credit reports

Once a year, you?re entitled to a free copy from each of the three credit reporting bureaus (Experian, Equifax and TransUnion). To request copies, go to: annualcreditreport.com.

Then check them for errors: erroneous late payments, charges that aren?t yours, collection notices that are more than seven years old. if you find errors, contact the creditor and the reporting bureau to clear your record.

Pay your bills on time

?It?s one of the best things you can do: Pay on time and at least make the minimum payment,? said Bradley Graham, product management director for FICO.com in San Rafael.

That?s because timely payments are the biggest percentage ? roughly a third ? of your credit score. Even if you?ve missed a few payments, getting back on track will improve your score over time.

Limit what you owe

It?s obvious advice, but the lower your monthly balance, the better off your credit looks. For instance, if you have a $10,000 credit limit, but typically only keep a $2,000 balance, you?ve got a huge chunk of unused available credit. That?s a plus in a lender?s eyes.

Don?t apply too often

Every time you apply for a new credit card or loan, it?s called an ?inquiry.? and too many inquiries in a short period of time can be a red flag on your credit score.
