NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Country music star Randy Travis was in critical condition Monday in a Texas hospital, a day after he was hospitalized with viral cardiomyopathy.

A news release from the singer's publicist says Travis was admitted to the hospital Sunday in Dallas and is in critical condition. Kirt Webster, Travis' publicist, said no other details about Travis' condition were available Monday.

Viral cardiomyopathy is a heart condition caused by a virus.

The illness is a continuation of a tough run for the 54-year-old "Three Wooden Crosses" singer after a handful of recent high-profile appearances, including a performance during the Country Music Association Festival's nightly concert series.

Travis pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated in January following his arrest last year when he was found naked after crashing his Pontiac Trans Am.

Travis was sentenced to two years of probation, fined $2000 and given a 180-day suspended jail sentence. He was required to spend at least 30 days at an alcohol treatment facility and complete 100 hours of community service.

The Mayo Clinic website describes cardiomyopathy as a disease that weakens and enlarges the heart muscle, making it harder for the heart to pump blood and carry it to the rest of the body. It can lead to heart failure. Treatments range from medications and surgically implanted devices to heart transplants.

At least five dead in oil train derailment

LAC-MEGANTIC, Quebec - As firefighters doused still burning oil tanker cars, more bodies were recovered Sunday in this devastated town in eastern Quebec, raising the death toll to five after a runaway train derailed, igniting explosions and fires that destroyed the downtown district. With dozens of people reported missing, authorities feared they could find more bodies once they reached the hardest-hit areas.

Quebec provincial police Lt. Michel Brunet said Sunday that about 40 people have been reported missing, but cautioned that the number could fluctuate up or down.

"We met many people who had reported family members missing. Right now I can tell you about 40," Brunet said.

Brunet confirmed two more deaths early Sunday afternoon after confirming two people were found dead overnight. One death was confirmed Saturday. The charred remains have been sent to Montreal for identification.

All but one of the 73 cars were filled with oil, which was being transported from North Dakota's Bakken oil region to a refinery in Saint John, New Brunswick.

The eruptions early Saturday morning sent residents of Lac-Megantic scrambling through the streets under the intense heat of towering fireballs and a red glow that illuminated the night sky. Local Fire Chief Denis Lauzon likened the charred scene to "a war zone."

"This is really terrible. Our community is grieving and it is taking its toll on us," Mayor Colette Roy-Laroche said.

On Sunday afternoon, Prime Minister Stephen Harper toured the town where a large part of the downtown area has been leveled.

"This is an unbelievable disaster," Harper said. "This is a very big disaster in human terms as the extent of this becomes increasingly obvious."

Harper said the whole country is worried about the missing and is praying for the town.

"This is an enormous area, 30 buildings just completely destroyed, for all intents and purposes incinerated," Harper said. "There isn't a family that is not affected by this."

The search for victims in the charred debris was hampered because two tanker cars were still burning Sunday morning, sparking fears of more potentially fatal blasts.

Lauzon said firefighters are staying 500 feet (150 meters) from the burning tankers, which are being doused with water and foam to keep them from overheating.

The multiple blasts came over a span of several hours in the town of 6,000, which is about 155 miles (250 kilometers) east of Montreal and about 10 miles (16 kilometers) west of the Maine border. It is a picturesque lakeside town in Quebec's Eastern Townships.

The derailment caused at least five tanker cars to explode in the downtown district, a popular area packed with bars that often bustles on summer weekend nights. Police said the first explosion tore through the town shortly after 1 a.m. local time. The fire then spread to several homes.

Brunet said he couldn't say where the bodies were found exactly because the families have not been notified. Many feared for the lives of those who were at the Musi-Cafe bar where dozens of people were enjoying themselves in the wee hours of a glorious summer night.

Residents who gathered outside a community shelter Sunday hugged and wiped tears as they braced for bad news about missing loved ones.

Henri-Paul Audette headed there with hope of reuniting with his missing brother. Audette, 69, said his brother's apartment was next to the railroad tracks, very close to the spot where the train derailed.

"I haven't heard from him since the accident," he said. "I had thought ... that I would see him."

Another man who came to the shelter said it's difficult to explain the impact this incident has had on life in Lac-Megantic. About a third of the community was forced out of their homes. David Vachon said he has one friend whose sister is missing and another who is still searching for his mother.

The cause of the accident was believed to be a runaway train, the railroads operator said.

Edward Burkhardt, the president and CEO of Rail World Inc., the parent company of Montreal, Maine & Atlantic Railway, said the train had been parked uphill of Lac-Megantic because the engineer had finished his run. The tanker cars somehow came loose and sped downhill nearly seven miles (11 kilometers) into the town before derailing.

"We've had a very good safety record for these 10 years," Burkhardt said of the decade-old railroad. "Well, I think we've blown it here."

Joe McGonigle, Montreal, Maine & Atlantic's vice president of marketing, said the company believes the brakes were the cause. He said the rail company has been in touch with Canada's Transportation Safety Board.

"Somehow those brakes were released and that's what is going to be investigated," McGonigle said in a telephone interview Sunday. "We're pretty comfortable saying it is the brakes. The train was parked, it was tied up. The brakes were secured. Somehow it got loose."

The company later released a statement that said air brakes used to hold the locomotive in place may have been released after the train was parked.

Lauzon, the fire chief, said that firefighters in a nearby community were called to a locomotive blaze on the same train a few hours before the derailment. Lauzon said he could not provide additional details about that fire since it was in another jurisdiction. Nantes Fire Chief Patrick Lambert couldn't be immediately reached, but McGonigle confirmed the fire department showed up after the first engineer tied up and went to a local hotel and after someone reported a fire.

"We know that one of our employees from our engineering department showed up at the same time to assist the fire department. Exactly what they did is being investigated so the engineer wasn't the last man to touch that train, we know that, but we're not sure what happened," McGonigle said.

McGonigle said there was no reason to suspect any criminal or terror-related activity.

Because of limited pipeline capacity in North Dakota's Bakken region and in Canada, oil producers are increasingly using railroads to transport much of the oil to refineries on the East, Gulf and West coasts, as well as inland. The Canadian Railway Association recently estimated that as many as 140,000 carloads of crude oil will be shipped on Canada's tracks this year. That's up from just 500 carloads in 2009.

Harper has called railroad transit "far more environmentally challenging" while trying to persuade the Obama administration to approve the controversial Keystone XL pipeline from Canada to the Gulf Coast. He declined to comment on

The proliferation of oil trains has raised concerns of a major derailment like this. McGonigle said it is a safe way to transport oil.

"There's much more hazardous material that moves by rail than crude oil. We think it is safe. We think we have a safe operation. No matter what mode of transportation you are going to have incidents. That's been proven," McGonigle said. "This is an unfortunate incident."

Myrian Marotte, a spokeswoman for the Canadian Red Cross in Lac-Megantic, said there are about 2,000 evacuees and said 163 stayed at their operations center overnight.

Patrons gathered at a nearby bar were sent running for their lives after the thunderous crash and wall of fire blazed through the early morning sky early Saturday. Bernard Theberge, who was outside on the bar's patio at the time of the crash, feared for the safety of those inside the popular Musi-Cafe when the first explosion went off.

"People started running and the fire ignited almost instantaneously," he said.

"It was like a movie," said Theberge, who considered himself fortunate to escape with only second-degree burns on his right arm. "Explosions as if it were scripted - but this was live."

According to Montreal Maine & Atlantic's website, the company owns more than 500 miles (800 kilometers) of track serving Maine, Vermont, Quebec and New Brunswick.

Montreal, Maine and Atlantic carried nearly 3 million barrels of oil across Maine last year. Each tank car holds some 30,000 gallons (113,600 liters) of oil.

Maine state officials were notified regarding concerns about the smoke from the fire but staff meteorologists don't believe it will have a significant impact, Peter Blanchard of the state Department of Environmental Protection said Sunday.

The Maine environmental agency had previously begun developing protection plans for areas in the state through which the oil trains travel.

But Glen Brand, director of the environmentalist Sierra Club's Maine chapter, said the Quebec derailment is reason enough to call for an immediate moratorium on the rail transport of oil through the state.

"This tragic accident is part of the larger problem of moving oil through Maine and northern New England," Brand said. "It reinforces the importance of moving away from dirty fossil fuels that expose the people of northern New England, Maine and Quebec to a host of dangerous risks."

French President Francois Hollande's office issued a statement offering condolences to the victims in the predominantly French-speaking Canadian province.

? Ryan Jeep?s third-straight shut out performance helped the American Legion baseball team from Steamboat Springs capture first place in the Mountain League on Sunday.

The team now has earned a top seed for the state tournament, which will take place July 25 to 28 in Breckenridge.

?It was a good Sunday for us,? said Dave Roy, the Steamboat Springs Legion coach. ?Our base running was excellent, and our defense was excellent. I still think we could have hit the ball better, but that?s what we will work on this week.?

Roy said Jeep?s 4-0 shutout victory against Eagle Valley in the first half of a doubleheader Sunday sealed Steamboat?s claim to first place in the Mountain League. The team finished the regular season with a 14-5 record and will be one of the top seeds in the Legion ?B? State tournament, which is for players between ages 14 and 18.

Jeep pitched all seven innings in the first game striking out 12 batters, walking just three and giving up four hits in the contest.

The Steamboat pitcher also had two hits in the game and scored three times. Thomas Kelly also had two hits and knocked in an important RBI that helped seal the victory.

Kelly also highlighted a solid day of defense with an unassisted double play. Steamboat finished the game with no errors.

Eagle Valley used its ace in the second game and took an early lead on Steamboat. However, the local boys battled back into the contest tying the game at eight runs late, and then putting together a rally down the stretch to earn the 12-8 victory.

David Brown, Billy Clark and Jesse Pugh shared pitching duties in the game. Clark came away with the win, and Pugh was credited with the save. As a team, Steamboat had 10 hits and stole four bases. Brown and Channing Conner both had two hits in the game.

The local Legion team now will shift gears and start preparing for several of end-of-the-year tournaments.

The first will take place this weekend in Rangeley. The team then will head to Buena Vista for another tournament before getting a shot at the state tournament at the end of the month in Summit County.

Low oxygen levels reduce diversity and catch rates of near-bottom species

A 10-year study of Chesapeake Bay fishes by researchers at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science provides the first quantitative evidence on a bay-wide scale that low-oxygen "dead zones" are impacting the distribution and abundance of "demersal" fishesthose that live and feed near the Bay bottom.

The affected specieswhich include Atlantic croaker, white perch, spot, striped bass, and summer flounderare a key part of the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem and support important commercial and recreational fisheries.

The study, published in the May issue of Marine Ecology Progress Series, was authored by Andre Buchheister, a Ph.D. student in William & Mary's School of Marine Science at VIMS, along with VIMS colleagues Chris Bonzek, Jim Gartland, and Dr. Rob Latour.

All four authors are involved in VIMS' Chesapeake Bay Multi-Species Monitoring and Assessment Program (ChesMMAP), an ongoing effort to track and understand interactions between and among fishes and other marine life within the Bay ecosystem.

Buchheister says "This is the first study to document that chronically low levels of dissolved oxygen in Chesapeake Bay can reduce the number and catch rates of demersal fish species on a large scale." He notes that other studies have looked at the effects of low oxygen on fishes within the water column and on demersal fishes within individual Bay tributaries.

Low-oxygen conditionswhat scientists call "hypoxia"form when excessive loads of nitrogen from fertilizers, sewage, and other sources feed algal blooms in coastal waters. When these algae die and sink, they provide a rich food source for bacteria, which in the act of decomposition take up dissolved oxygen from nearby waters.

In Chesapeake Bay, low-oxygen conditions are most pronounced in mid-summer, and in the deep waters of the Bay's middle reaches. "This appears to displace fish biomass toward the northern and southern edges of the bay's mainstem channel," says Buchheister.

"The drastic decline we saw in species richness, species diversity, and catch rate under low-oxygen conditions is consistent with work from other systems," he adds. "It suggests that demersal fishes begin to avoid an area when levels of dissolved oxygen drop below about 4 milligrams per liter, as they start to suffer physiological stress."

The fishes' response at this level is interesting, says Buchheister, "because it occurs at levels greater than the 2 milligrams per liter that scientists formally use to define hypoxia." Normal coastal waters contain from 7-8 milligrams of oxygen per liter.

Previous research suggests that oxygen-poor waters can stress fish directly, through increased respiration and elevated metabolism, and also by affecting their prey.

"Low levels of dissolved oxygen stress or kill the bottom-dwelling invertebrates that demersal fishes rely on for food," says Buchheister. "Prolonged exposure of these invertebrates to hypoxic conditions in the mid-Bay represents a substantial reduction in the habitat available for foraging by demersal fishes baywide, and could reduce the quality of foraging habitat even after bottom waters become re-oxygenated."

The authors caution, however, that the limits on fish abundance and distribution brought on by low-oxygen conditions are to some degree balanced by the positive effects that nutrients have on production of mid-water and surface-dwelling fishes elsewhere in the Bay. The nutrient-rich waters that encourage dead-zone formation also fuel algal growth, thus turbocharging the base of a food web that ultimately supports fish and other predators.

The team's findings are based on an exhaustive study of the distribution and abundance of late juvenile and adult fishes caught and released in trawl nets during 48 sampling trips between 2002 and 2011, the largest quantitative assessment of the bay-wide demersal fish community ever conducted. The sampling took place at 3,640 ChesMMAP stations throughout the mainstem of Chesapeake Bay.

ChesMMAP, currently funded by Wallop-Breaux funds from the Virginia Marine Resources Commission, was established in 2002 as part of the growing international recognition that a single-species approach to fisheries management does not fully account for the complex interactions within marine ecosystems.

Latour, head of the Multispecies Research Group at VIMS, says "The traditional approach to fisheries management looks at a single species as if it were independent, unaffected by other processes and having no effect on other species. In ChesMMAP and our other multispecies research programs we analyze the interactions between species and their environment, including studies of predator-prey dynamics, seasonal changes in distribution, and water-quality parameters such as temperature, salinity, and DO [dissolved oxygen]."

Indeed, the team's research shows that salinity is the most important factor affecting the distribution of Bay fishes, whether they live near the bottom or towards the surface.

"Salinity was the major environmental gradient structuring community composition, biodiversity, and catch rates in our 10-year dataset," says Buchheister. "The saltier waters of the lower Bay and the fresher waters of the upper Bay generally have a more diverse and dynamic fish fauna than the middle Bay, whose brackish waters place physiological demands on many aquatic organisms."

The value of the ChesMMAP dataset extends beyond the current study. "Our work provides a 10-year frame of reference that can be used to evaluate future large-scale changes in the composition, distribution, and abundance of the Bay's demersal fish community," says Latour.

"Continued monitoring will be critical for detecting how the Bay ecosystem responds to continued stresses from fishing, development, and climate change. It's an essential component to a successful management strategy for the marine resources of Chesapeake Bay and the coastal Atlantic."

Local athletes compete in All-State football

MOSES LAKE ? The East-West All-State Football Game has been played for nearly 50 years by the best high school seniors in the state. And this year, four of those players hailed from Marysville.

Marysville Getchell?s Zander Seymer and Marysville-Pilchuck?s Kyle Nobach, Iggy Gabov and Jordan Hoorn were chosen from among hundreds of Western Washington players to represent their schools, their communities and the Western Conference at the Summer Classic in Moses Lake on Friday, June 21.

Coached by Lake Stevens? Tom Tri, the players spent the week prior to the game getting acquainted with their teammates, though since more than half of the West?s roster came from Wesco, some introductions weren?t necessary.

?Each area has different kinds of personalities and it was fun to get to know them,? said Seymer. ?Creating new friendships with the other players was great. I?ve played against them for years and you always hear the big names in the paper or just by word of mouth. I knew about some guys that I never had the opportunity to meet, so coming to this game and getting to know them was awesome.?

His fellow Marysville players agreed.

?It was awesome to be there,? said Hoorn. ?We know a bunch of people from around Wesco, so the team was really bonded. We knew each other for a few days, but it felt like we had been a team for a few seasons.?

Gabov agreed that it was nice to put away former rivalries and use skills that would have been intimidating during the regular season to their advantage.

?Actually, it was a great experience because you always hear about other Wesco kids ? which teams have good tight ends or good tackles ? and it was kind of nice to see that we all came together,? he said. ?We?d be like, ?Man, you?re from Stanwood. I heard about you.? And hearing about other kids during school, it was great ? kind of my dream ? to play in an All-State game with them.?

Ultimately, the West team was defeated by the East, with a 38-21 final score.

Nobach, who caught a touchdown pass during the game, said he was happy to spend his last high school competition with players he knew so well.

?I think it was really cool to play with Jordan,? he said. ?I?ve grown up playing football with him my whole entire life. We played together at varsity for three years now, same with Iggy. It really shows that M-P was a pretty big powerhouse this year to be able to send three players for the All-State game.?

All three boys admitted feeling honored that they were chosen for their skill on the field to represent their schools.

?I was so happy, that?s a huge honor,? said Seymer. ?Out of every single person in the west that plays football ? to even be thought of at all is an honor. I am glad I got the opportunity to play in the game.?

Gabov, who moved to the United States from Russia during middle school joined the football team immediately.

?Believe it or not, I was a twig at the beginning of my journey,? he said. ?I had to train myself in the weight room and outside of football, and make myself bigger and get the technique down. Football is an American thing, but the language barrier wasn?t that bad. They just said, ?Iggy go get ?em?, so that?s what I did.?

His strength on the football field will serve him well in the next part of his life, as a member of the United States Marine Corps.

?Honestly, I like football because it challenges me to be great,? he said. ?I was looking for the next challenge. Since I always wanted to do some sort of military service, I chose the Marine Corps because it offered me that challenge ? to bring me to another level. It?s going to help me see other countries and experience different places, and hopefully learn from it.?

Nobach will be competing as a college-level athlete, though not on the football field.

?I?ll be playing baseball at Everett Community College, and I will do all of my pre-requisites to transfer to a four-year university where I can play baseball,? he said.

He may see Seymer there as well, since he is still undecided between attending EvCC for two years before transferring, or going straight to Central Washington University.

?I?m still choosing between Central and EvCC, but I?d be playing football for either one,? he said.

Hoorn will be on the field for Washington State University, but this time it won?t be football.

?I?m planning to go to WSU and play some rugby,? he said. ?I will definitely stay active. I wanted to play rugby because it?s a close translation to football. I was thinking about walking on to the football team, but I need a year off to recoup, I think.?

No matter where their paths take them, the four boys will remember the last game of high school ball that they played, together representing the Marysville community, in Moses Lake.

?I thought it was really cool to watch the level of talent that we had,? said Hoorn. ?It was pretty crazy the level of talent on our team. We had a guy who was 6-foot-8 and 260 pounds. Just the strength in them was cool to watch. It was great to see people I know personally go out and showcase their skills and show everybody what Marysville is all about.?

Seymer was proud to be one of the first Chargers on an All-State roster.

?Without my teammates and coaches at MG, I wouldn?t be where I am,? said Seymer. ?They gave me the opportunity to show my ability to catch a football and make plays. And it?s the same with the M-P kids in the West game. Us being rivals and setting that aside and having fun together ? that was a cool experience I will never forget.?

Gabov gave credit to his school?s coaching staff for all of their hard work to help players like him succeed.

?The M-P coaching staff were really able to help kids find out who they are,? he said. ?I really like how they teach kids the fundamentals and they make sure they don?t forget. When it?s game time, you feel like you?ve been doing it all your life.?

Nobach isn?t surprised that the All-State game included so many Marysville players.

?I would say that Marysville has the best program caring for their kids,? he said. ?They are really close with everybody, they don?t play favorites and they want everyone to get better. My four years playing high school sports was the most memorable thing in my life and I will cherish these moments forever.?

Whales flee from military sonar leading to mass strandings, research shows

Whales flee from the loud military sonar used by navies to hunt submarines, new research has proven for the first time. The studies provide a missing link in the puzzle that has connected naval exercises around the world to unusual mass strandings of whales and dolphins.

Beaked whales, the most common casualty of the strandings, were shown to be highly sensitive to sonar. But the research also revealed unexpectedly that blue whales, the largest animals on Earth and whose population has plummeted by 95% in the last century, also abandoned feeding and swam rapidly away from sonar noise.

The strong response observed in the beaked whales occurred at noise levels well below those allowed for US navy exercises. ?This result has to be taken into consideration by regulators and those planning naval exercises,? said Stacy DeRuiter, at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, who led one of the teams.

VUHL 05 Ford EcoBoost powered Supercar unveiled

n/a

The new VUHL 05 has been held in extreme secrecy but has been officially unveiled for the world to see. It was revealed in London two days ago for a select audience including SIr Stirling Moss at London?s Royal Automobile Club. VUHL
(pronounced ?vool?) stands for Vehicles of Ultra High-performance and Lightweight). The two-seat mid-engine supercar is the brainchild of brothers Iker and Guillermo Echeverria, whose Mexican/American design company built the breath-taking 05.

The road-legal car recently landed in the UK from Mexico last week where the final assembly took place in Mexico City. The two brothers who designed the supercar have a passion for performance cars that stem from GT and formula racing cars successfully built and campaigned over a 30-year period by their father, Guillermo Echeverria senior.

Engineered for exhilarating performance

The VUHL 05 supercar embodies the ultimate in automotive technology from around the world and has the backing of a number of blue-chip companies that includes Ford, Multimatic, Michelin and the Mexican Government. The road-legal sports car has been precision engineered for the track and endowed with exhilarating performance for both the road and the circuit.

The VUHL 05 is ultra-lightweight and weighs in at just 695kg. The chassis is made exclusively of aluminum and the body consists of RTM reinforced plastic and carbon fiber is an option. The suspension consists of unequal length double wishbones front and rear. It will ride on OZ alloy wheels wrapped with 205/45 x 17 front; 235/45 x 18 rear Michelin performance tires.

The VUHL 05 will be powered by a 2.0-liter Ford EcoBoost turbocharged engine which pumps out 285 horsepower and close to 310 lb ft of torque. The lightweight supercar will have a power to weight ratio of 400 bhp per ton. Just how fast will this make the new two-seat sports car? This will translate to a 0-100 k/ph sprint time of just 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 152 mph.

The bodies of the new mid-engined supercar are being fabricated in Canada, with chassis production and final assembly conducted by the advanced manufacturing concern, Adman Leku in Mexico City.

Testing is still underway

The 05?s handling has been fine-tuned in the UK, while further testing and development is scheduled to take place with assistance from Michelin later this year, both here in the U.S. and Europe. And there is good news for those of us in the U.S. Initial sales will be available in North America and the UK with expansion to other European countries, China and the Middle-East.

How much will the new VUHL 05 cost? Orders are being taken now for delivery beginning in the spring of 2014. The base price will start from 55,000 British Pounds ($81,994 USD) with a wide range of performance options available to allow the 05 to be upgraded to personal taste. India, Mozambique trade doubles

Maputo, July 6 (IANS) Trade between Mozambique and India has doubled from $6.31 million in 2010 to $1.28 billion in 2012, a government minister said Friday.

Deputy Mineral Resources Minister Abdul Razak said this was due to good economic relations between the two countries and boosted by Mozambican President Armando Guebuza?s visit to India two years ago, reports Xinhua.

The figure was revealed at an India-Mozambique business forum in Maputo.

Razak said Indian businessmen had a lot of opportunities to grab in Mozambique in the fields of mineral resources, transport, energy, health and technology among others.

?Investment climate in our country is excellent?, he said. ?Mozambique is open to direct foreign investment.?

Razak said Mozambique had a huge potential such as natural gas with reserves attaining around 160 trillion cubic feet and coal deposite of about 20 billion tonnes.

Mozambique exports power to energy-thirsty neighbours.

(AP) ? The price of oil hovered near $101 a barrel Friday as markets awaited a report on U.S. hiring.

Benchmark crude for August delivery was down 24 cents at $101 a barrel at midday Bangkok time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Nymex floor trading was closed Thursday for the Independence Day holiday.

On Wednesday, the contract gained $1.64 to $101.24, its highest close since early May last year, propelled by political unrest in Egypt and a sharp drop in U.S. oil supplies that could signal stronger demand.

The U.S. jobs report could be crucial to whether oil continues to rise or cedes recent gains as it will provide insight into the strength of the recovery in the world's No. 1 economy and a major crude consumer. A survey of analysts by FactSet forecasts that 178,000 new jobs were created in June.

Brent crude, which is used to set prices for oils used by many U.S. refineries, was down 6 cents to $105.48 on the ICE exchange in London.

In other energy futures trading on Nymex:

? Wholesale gasoline was up 0.2 cent to $2.841 per gallon.

? Natural gas fell 1.4 cents to $3.676 per 1,000 cubic feet.

? Heating oil was almost unchanged at $2.951 a gallon.

(AP) ? A mother and her daughter died of injuries suffered in a central Pennsylvania house fire, bringing the toll in the Fourth of July blaze to six, authorities said Friday.

Crystal Kuhns died at 7:30 a.m. Friday and her daughter Mickey died at 6 p.m. Thursday, a spokesman for Crozer Chester Medical Center said. Two-year-old Kordell Kuhns remained in critical condition at the hospital outside Philadelphia, spokesman Grant Gegwich said.

The fire started in the kitchen of a three-story Lancaster duplex at about 3 a.m. Thursday after frozen potatoes were left in the oven, fire officials said. Authorities said two men and two other children also died.

Fourteen members of several families lived in the home, which did not have smoke detectors, Fire Chief Timothy Gregg said.

One victim, 65-year-old Jimmie Moore, was described by neighbors and relatives as a generous man and Vietnam War veteran who let another family move in after they lost their own housing.

The others victims were David Kuhns, 51; and his two sons, Skylar, 8, and Shawn, 6, The (Lancaster) Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era reported.

Another person was admitted in serious condition, a nursing supervisor at Lancaster General Hospital said. Several others were treated and released.

Lancaster County coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni said autopsies on the first four victims were scheduled for Friday.

Flixster for BlackBerry 10 adds UltraViolet movie streaming

Flixster for BlackBerry 10 adds UltraViolet movie streaming

BlackBerry 10 users have had Flixster's app as a movie guide since January, but they haven't had the chance to watch their discoveries on the BlackBerry itself. Thankfully, Flixster has provided that missing piece of the puzzle today by adding UltraViolet support (not pictured here). As with Android and iOS, anyone with a BB10 device can now stream videos saved in their UV locker. The upgrade brings regular Flixster accounts, too -- members can mark the movies they want to see and review them afterward. Between these two major additions, the new Flixster app is easily worth an update at the source link.

Try getting a weapon on plane and you'll end up on...Instagram?

This Instagram image was taken by the TSA. No, really. It shows a weapon they confiscated from someone's carry on luggage at Austin Bergstrom airport. The TSA now has their own Instagram account and has taken to posting images of some of the things they're confiscating at airports across the U.S. It's both shocking, and re-assuring at the same time; shocking items such as loaded guns were found at all, but re-assuring that the TSA is visibly doing a job to protect our safety, even if they are telling us about it themselves.

The TSA is no stranger to using the power of the Internet to talk about their successes, but with the enormous, global reach of Instagram, this latest method really can reach everyone. Further still, they're pretty good Instagram photos as well; composed, 'properly' filtered and framed!

It could be seen as an unusual tactic, but as todays world ever changes towards mobile, and apps like Instagram are great examples of this, there's no reason why an enforcement agency like the TSA shouldn't use mobile to get their point across. What do you guys think of this? Any other government agencies you'd like to see take to Instagram?
