I have had my blog since I was pregnant with my son in 2004. It started out as an outlet for me to type. This ranged anywhere from random thoughts, venting frustrations, posting goofy jokes and I would even write about products that we received at our baby shower that I found helpful throughout my pregnancy and the newborn stage of my son. What once was a random ramblings became a place where I could share thoughts to thousands of people about recipes, home organization tips, DIY hints and even products that get us by day by day. Since Mommy Goggles has grown over the years, I have been considering creating an LLC so I did some research and came to LegalZoom where all of my answers were.. well? answered!
What is an LLC?
A limited liability company, or LLC, is a business entity created under state law that combines aspects of both a corporation and a partnership.
Why get an LLC?
In some cases, small businesses are targeted for lawsuits. In 2005, a styby by Congress said that small businesses bear 68 percent of business tort liability costs, yet only take in 25 percent of business revenue. Why not protect the assets that you have, for that just in case event? If you have your own business, you will want to protect your personal liability for business debts. Partnerships and unincorporated businesses do not provide limited liability.

Why did I choose LegalZoom?
Well, when we created our Will a couple of years ago, I was so scared about the entire process. We went through LegalZoom with our will, the entire process was so easy that I had to go through LegalZoom for my LLC. The process was lengthy to go through the LLC, but it is very thorough and in the end, it is very much legal. I can reassure that Mommy Goggles? LLC is well taken care of. Anytime I have a question, all I have to do is send an email or call and any of the staff at LegalZoom can answer any questions that I have.
My LLC Process
Here was my LLC process from LegalZoom. Very easy!
First, you go to LegalZoom and from here, it will ask you what you want to create. For an LLC, scroll fown to ?Form a new LLC?, and follow any and all of directed questions. At any time, you can click on HELP to get answers to any questions that you may have or you can call in to the amazing LegalZoom staff. I had to email and call a couple of times to answer those ?ify? questions that I had.
At any time that you need to get to those daily duties, you can always save and continue at a later time. I had to do this about 12 times.
The next page will ask you for your street address, city, state, etc., then it will ask you if you are a doctor, dentist, lawyer or other licensed professional, in which that will take you to a whole other section of LegalZoom. For more people creating an LLC, it will most likely be a small business.
On this page, you can choose if you want to select LegalZoom to act as your registered agent or someone else. I recommend LegalZoom if you are not sure.
One thing that I loved was when I was going through the process, I could hover over the ? area and it will tell you what the percentage of answers that there were.
You will then go on to answer more questions about your business and select partnerships, amout of contribution and ownership percentage.
There are so many more questions that are asked, but not to bore you with my entire process, my overall thought is that the LegalZoom process was very easy and very thorough. At the end of the creation of your LLC, the confirmation page will show you the timeline of what you ordered.
Ok, now on to what I received. Was it what I thought? No. Actually, it was more than I thought and expecting. Sure, I read about and saw a stock image of what I would receive, but once it was sitting out, I was in awe. Mommy Goggles is officially an LLC. I have three words.
