Foodies in London are set to enjoy another offering from Gordon Ramsay?s restaurant empire, as the celebrity chef finalises plans to open an eatery with football star David Beckham.
Amid speculation of a potential partnership late last year, Beckham commented to a Los Angeles radio station: ?We?ve got something in the pipeline. We are obviously good friends and we are excited about a project that could happen pretty soon. It will be a business thing, but owning a restaurant is going to be fun as well.?
Recent information from Ramsay?s camp has confirmed the pair?s plans to set up shop in the Southwark Borough of London under the name of Union Street Caf? ? a Mediterranean-inspired eatery set in a renovated warehouse.
Expected to open in September, the restaurant will be the first London offering from the multi-Michelin starred chef since the opening of Bread Street Kitchen at the capital?s One New Change development in 2011.
Meanwhile, Gordon Ramsay Holdings (GRH) has focused on expanding in the US, with new restaurant openings in both Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
Speaking in a statement, Ramsay said: ?We?re really excited to be opening Union Street Caf? in September and it?s great that David wants to come on board and be partner.
?We?ve been working on the new site, which is near Borough Market, for the past couple of years and the amazing large warehouse space will offer quality Mediterranean-influenced food with a daily changing menu.?
