Help For Self Esteem - The Self Improvement Blog

By Mike Greenberg -

Do you experience any difficulties with your relationships?

Does it take hours to fall asleep at night? Is your self-esteem decreasing?

It may be due to the hormone oxytocin not circulating and flowing freely throughout your body. Oxytocin is a hormone that increases in response to stress and is associated with good social skills such as empathy and enjoying the company of others. It also creates a feeling of calm and closeness and is being shown to trigger a wide variety of physical and psychological effects in both women and men.

Scientific research has documented several benefits of oxytocin, the so-called ?love hormone.? Oxytocin eases stress, reinforces positive memories, boosts sexual arousal, improves social skills, triggers protective instincts, induces sleep and enhances relationships.

Though scientists have long known about oxytocin?s role in rearing children, we?re learning more about it now. UCLA life scientists have recognized a particular gene?s link to three critical psychological resources: optimism, self-esteem, and the belief that one has control over one?s own life. For a few years Shelley E. Taylor, a distinguished professor of psychology at UCLA and senior author of the new research, has been looking for this gene, which she and her colleagues have identified as the oxytocin receptor gene.

Oxytocin?s influence on our behavior and physiology originates in the brain, where the hormone is produced by the hypothalamus. It is then transferred to the pituitary gland, which releases into the bloodstream. Like antennas picking up a signal, oxytocin receptors are found on cells throughout the body.

Levels of the hormone tend to be higher during both stressful and socially bonding experiences. It is not always necessary to take medication to balance this hormone. It is feasible to balance oxytocin in your body if there is no deficiency. The oxytocin treatment that takes approximately 15 minutes is a natural and holistic healing process in which the body?s self-healing mechanism actually balances itself. The patient is to return for a follow-up visit to ensure that the treatment is complete. Sometimes it requires treatment on both sides of the body, similar to right and left brain cohesiveness, for the clearing to be successfully balanced. Dr. Mike can verify if your oxytocin is functioning optimally.

A hidden force within that holds a person back in life is a self esteem issue. It is not obvious, not to parents or spouses. Sensitive individuals seem to fall in this category.
