?SUVA, Fiji (PACNEWS/MINFO) ---- Fiji? is a shining pearl in the South Pacific Ocean, says? Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo, upon his arrival in the Pacific nation.

Wu arrived Thursday with a large contingent of media and some Cabinet Ministers who will play a crucial role in the signing of several agreements between the two countries.

In a statement, the high ranking official highlighted the close ties the two countries have shared including the fact that Fiji was the first country in the Pacific island country to establish diplomatic relations with China.

?We enjoy political mutual trust and support, and economic complementarity and common development,? Wu said.

He said although China and Fiji were separated by vast oceans, the hearts of its people are close to each other.

?We respect and learn from each other on the cultural front, and maintain close communication and coordination on major international and regional issue.??
