Hoffenheim, Hannover win at German Bundesliga

Berlin, Sep 27

Stuttgart remained winless following a 0-3 loss to Hoffenheim and Hannover wrapped their third win thanks to a powerful 4-1 performance against Nuremberg in German Bundesliga football here.

Leverkusen sealed a 3-1 victory at Augsburg within the first half and 10-man Monchengladbach came back twice to share points with Hamburg, Wednesday.

Hoffenheim wrapped their second consecutive win following a faultless performance against harmless Stuttgart at the southern derby.

Stuttgart piled on the pressure from kicking off, but it was Hoffenheim that opened the scoring against the run of the match. Hoffenheims Takashi Usami had all time and space to finish his solo run and goal from penalty area.

Subsequently Stuttgart acted unable to find the goal within the break. Two minutes into second half, Hoffenheim doubled the lead through Joselu who made use of Roberto Firminos assist following a turnover at midfield.

Things went from bad to worse for Stuttgart as Hoffenheims Fabian Johnson tripled the lead when he poked home a rebound from close range at the 58th minute.

A clinical chance conversion by Hannover was enough to inflict Nuremberg the second loss of the season. Both sides started with a wait-and-see attitude into the match, but with 21 minutes into the match, Hannover's Lars Stindl slotted home the opener from inside the box following a diagonal pass by Szabolcs Huszti.

Hannover remained effective and doubled the lead with the second shot on target as Szabolcs Huszti capitalized on a black out by Nuremberg defender Per Nilsson seven minutes later.

At the second half Nuremberg started where they left off as Per Nilsson invited Hannover's substitute Didier Ya Konan with a misplaced pass to triple the lead at the 52nd minute.

Ya Konan was not done with the scoring as he sealed his brace at the 64th minute against clumsy Nuremberg, that were able to score the consolation through Timothy Chandler at the 73rd minute.

10-man Monchengladbach punished wasteful Hamburg to keep a draw at home. Monchengladbach and Hamburg staged a nervous start with many misplaced passes at Borussia Park. Hamburg took the lead out of the blue at the 23rd minute when Rafael van der Vaart hammered home from the left wing into top right.

The Foals looked for a quick answer and they were rewarded at the 39th minute when Martin Stranzl headed home the equalizer out of the blue to make it 1-1.

Monchengladbach was on a tear but the header by Artjoms Rudnev established the 2-1 lead for Hamburg seconds before break.

10 minutes into second half Monchengladbach's Martin Stranzl committed a professional foul to cause a straight red card and a penalty. Van der Vaart stepped up to convert the penalty but he just rattled the left post.

The Foals never gave up and flabbergasted the visitors with the late equaliser by Alvaro Dominguez to eke out the third draw of the season.

Elsewhere, Bremen came from behind to win 2-1 over Freiburg whereas Leverkusen secured a 3-1 victory over Augsburg.
