So how are YOU welcoming the second weekend of fall? Ooh, just saw the weather forecast, which is calling for rain on Saturday. No guarantees, though, so no excuses for avoiding the outdoors until you see lightning in the not-too-distant-distance or feel the ping-ping-ping of hail on your hat and shoulders.
Meanwhile?here are a few ideas to at least get you thinking.
1. Run Proud. Or at least cheer on those running to raise money to fight ALS. The disease took the life of race namesake Diane Proud, who passed away a week after last year?s race. There?s no packet pickup or registration Friday, but you can register on Saturday beginning at 7 a.m. Click here for details.
Want to visualize yourself running it? Click here for the 2011 Fit Photos slide show of the race.
2. Run for Tacos Registration is just about capped for this Sunday race, and there won?t be any on race day. So hurry to a Luke?s Locker and pony up $30 to $50, depending on the distance (5K, 10K, 10 miles). As the name implies, post-run snacks include, yes, tacos.
3. Experience Well. Head over to Dallas Yoga Center and experience its Day of Wellness from 2:30 to 5:30 Saturday.
Take a class, listen to lectures, meet the holistic practitioners who have offices at the center, which is located at 4525 Lemmon Ave. Cost is $20 in advance, $25 at the door.
